Statement from Leslie "
I've been turning for about 25 years and spent several years selling work at art shows and events. Most of you may know me as the Turning Lady from Woodcraft. Working here exposed me to so many cool techniques and methods normally used outside of turning. I believe the more you are exposed to in woodworking the better you can be at your own work. I'll be talking about adding decorative design to turned items. I use several media for this and think the limit is your imagination. When I began turning I was entranced by the beauty of the wood itself. Even plain light maple has its charms. As I got better I realized some woods are more beautiful than others and began to look for ways to enhance its natural beauty. We will talk about design inspiration, colour, carving, pyrography, piercing, weaving, wrapping, basketry, knitting, crochet, textures, beading, cross stitch wire, leather and natural beauty."
